Pastor Sheppard grew up in a Christian home and was saved at the age of six. After graduating from high school, he joined the U.S. Army where he served for three years. Shortly after his honorable discharge, he surrendered to preach and began Bible College. In 1995, he graduated with a degree in Pastoral Theology, was married, and immediately began serving as a youth pastor.

Three years later, he was called to pastor Grace Baptist Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In the fall of 2000, God directed Pastor Sheppard to start the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Findlay, Ohio.

Pastor Sheppard and his wife, Lynn, have six children, Jonathan, Emily, Elisa, Celeste, Timothy, and Elijah.

Evangelist Archie Davis, Guest Preacher

Retired Command Sergeant Major Archie L. Davis, Jr, spent 28 years of his life in service to his country. Throughout his Army career, Davis has held every enlisted leadership position, culminating with his service as Fort Hood’s senior noncommissioned officer.

Drawing from his years of military service, including tours in Iraq, Archie Davis and his wife Priscilla have dedicated their retirement years to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ across the United States and around the world.

Evangelist Davis holds an Associate’s Degree in General Studies and a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology.

Pastor Doug Cowan, Host Pastor

Pastor Cowan graduated from Hyles–Anderson College in the spring of 2002. Upon graduation Pastor Doug Cowan worked faithfully as an Assistant Pastor at the Bella Vista Baptist Church, of Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was there that God called Pastor Cowan to Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Pastor and Mrs. Cowan followed the call of God to Las Cruces, where they have given their lives to minister to the wonderful people of Las Cruces.

Since 2004, Pastor and Mrs. Cowan have been blessed to love the families of Las Cruces. They look forward to the many more great things that God has in store for His people at Cornerstone Baptist Church.
