FIRST VISIT

Here's what to expect during your first visit.

Cornerstone Baptist Church has something for everyone.  Whether your a new Christian, first time visitor, looking for a church home, or just passing through you will find something you need at CBC!

You'll find that Cornerstone Baptist:
  • Has a heart for people
  • Is a growing church located in the wonderful community of Las Cruces, New Mexico
  • Is committed to serving the Lord and reaching the community for the cause of Christ.
  • There are many opportunities to be involved, minister to the needy, serve the Lord and share the Gospel with others.
Sunday School
Adult Bible classes and Sunday School classes meet from 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m., right before the main preaching service.  Adults can choose from different class including: young married, senior saints, and college and career. Children's classes are divided into age appropriate groups. Youth classes are taught by experienced teachers from the Word of God, how it applies to their young lives. This is a great opportunity for you and your family to meet other Christians and also learn great Bible truths.

As you walk in, a friendly usher will greet you and be available to help you find a seat and answer any questions you may have.

We believe in having a church service with good, uplifting hymns and spiritual songs that will stir and inspire you, prayer, and best of all, practical preaching of the Word of God using only the KJV from Pastor Doug Cowan.

Child Care
We also provide a first-class nursery and child-care for your newborn or baby, where they will be kept safe and well supervised. Our nursery staff is well trained and experienced; we are good at what we do.

What Should I Wear?
There is no strict dress code to attend our public services, but in case you're wondering, a majority of our church members wear their "Sunday best" -the women wear modest dresses or skirts, and the men usually wear dress shirt and dress slacks, typically with a tie.

Preaching
We consider the preaching of the Word of God to be the best and the most important time of the service. We use only the KJV. I Corinthians 1:21 reads, "...it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe." We believe that the best help you can get in any struggle of life is from the Bible.

Invitation
At the end of the preaching, Pastor Cowan will ask everyone to stand and will give an invitation. This is a time for many to respond and make a life-changing decision by walking down the aisle and praying at the altar. A decision may be to trust Jesus Christ as your personnel Saviour or to become a better Christian. Whatever your decision may be, the altar is open to you to join those that will make decisions.

If you would like someone to pray with you or would like to make your decision public, men from our pastoral staff will be by the altar to pray with you and help you.

Baptism
After the invitation is given, we have a baptism time at the end of every Sunday service. Those who have trusted Jesus Christ are baptized by immersion, making it as easy as possible to be baptized immediately after you get saved. However, we do not believe you can be saved by baptism.

If you would like to be baptized, make your way to the altar, and men from our pastoral staff will be available to assist you.

Wednesday Evening Bible Study - 7:00 p.m.
The Wednesday evening Bible study takes place every week at 7:00 p.m. This is a time during the week when the church family gathers to listen and be taught practical, relevant truths from the Bible taught by Pastor Cowan. You will learn relevant truths from God's Word that will help you in all areas of your life.
